MBR Interpretation Guide
The important fields of the MBR are as follows:
- STATUS MBR YES - These words and the absence of a description line above it indicates that this report is an MBR. "STATUS MBR YES" will appear at the top of other reports; but if the report is of another type (Fact Query, for instance), a description line will be noted directly above "STATUS MBR YES."
- PRIMARY DAVID DILBERT SMITH - The MBR is based on this individual's earnings record.
- PIA HIS 1/99 $744.10 - The monthly payment amounts paid only to the INDIVIDUAL after Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA's) not including any dependants entitled to draw on the individual's record. The claimant can receive more than his PIA amount if he has dependants.
- FMAX-$1116.10D - The family maximum amount - the maximum amount the individual and all of his/her dependants can be paid regardless of the number of dependents entitled to draw on the individual's record.
- WC ACCT COMBINED AMT-$1802.60 - Total amount of non-SSA public DISABILITY benefits received. This indicates a worker's compensation offset applies. More information about the worker's compensation offset appears later in the MBR (Also see points 6 and 15).
- WC ONLY-$1802.60 - Total amount of worker's compensations benefits received. Because the amount in this line is the same as the line preceding it, worker's compensation benefits are the only type of public benefits being received (Also see points five and sixteen).
- INSD FIRST INSURED-01/1994 - The date of the disability if insured on that date.
- PAYMENT PIC-A - This is the first payment on the MBR, and it is paid to the primary claimant. "PIC" means Payment Identification Codes. "A" means Primary Claimant.
- MPA-$11.00 - Monthly benefit amount for ALL BENEFICIARIES (Also see point 13).
- PAYEE DAVID DILBERT SMITH - Payee of the above noted payment.
- PMA - $438.40 THRU 11/01 - The total amount of back pay owed to the claimant through November of 2001.
- LAF C - A "LAF C" or "LAF E" indicates the claimant is currently being paid. A "LAF D," "LAF S," "LAF T," or "LAF X" indicates the claimant is not currently being paid.
- MBP-$11.00 - Monthly benefit amount to the PRIMARY BENEFICIARY ONLY (Also see point nine).
- DOF-5/00 - Date the claim was filed (Also see points 16 and 18).
- OFFSET TYPE-WP EFFECTIVE-07/99 80% ACE-$1732.80 COMB OFFSET-$744.10 - An offset is occurring on this record. There are generally two types that will reduce the claimant's Social Security benefit amount - TYPE G (government pension offset) and TYPE W (state worker's compensation). This offset is a worker's compensation offset and is effective 7/99. The individual's monthly Social Security amount will be offset by 80% of the claimant's worker's compensation amount ($1732.80). (Also see points 5 and 6).
- DIB - Multiple DIB lines indicates that the claimant had prior applications for disability benefits.
- DLM - Last date the claimant was insured - her/his "DLI."
- DDO-1/99 - Date of the onset of disability (Also see points 14 and 18).
- DOED-07/99 - Date of entitlement to benefits (Also see points 14 and 16).
- DSD-12/01 - Date the favorable decision was made.
- HISTORY - Indicates the initial benefit amount and monthly amounts after each COLA (Cost Of Live Adjustment) paid to the primary beneficiary.
- PAYMENT - Any time more than one "PAYMENT" line exists, another person is receiving benefits on the claimant's work record - a secondary beneficiary.
- PIC-C1 - "PIC" means Payment Identification Codes. "C" means a child is being paid. There are well over 100 PIC codes for secondary beneficiaries.
- PAYEE - Person being paid on behalf of the secondary beneficiary.
- MBP-$0.00 - The amount paid to the secondary beneficiary.
